RCAHMS: Alan Reiach Collection presented in 1993
This perspective drawing by Alan Reiach is for the Gannochy Sports Pavilion at the University of Stirling which opened in December 1969. It is one of few buildings not designed by the practice of Robert Matthew Johnson-Marshall (RMJM), who were responsible for design and construction of the University over a period of six years from 1967.
Stirling was Scotland’s first new campus university and the first completely new university established in Scotland since the University of Edinburgh was founded in 1582. The setting, architecture and Robert Adam’s Airthrey Castle, which sits within the 360 acre campus, means that is has been described as ‘the most beautiful campus university in Europe’.
