The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a spectacular piece of concrete engineering built by Sir Robert McAlpine and Co. It was completed in 1901 and has 21 arched spans.

The viaduct is sited on one of the most scenic railway lines in the world which is single track for 140 miles. The Mallaig Extension Railway line goes through Banavie, Corpach, Lochailort, Beisdale, Arisaig, Morar and Mallaig. The Viaduct has featured in the Harry Potter films as the route to Hogwarts School, as well as on the £10 banknote of a well-known Scottish bank.
