The old bandstand survived until the 1930s when it was replaced by the Ross Bandstand. It was named after the family confectionery company, James Ross and Sons, famous for the creation of the sweet, Edinburgh Rock.

The bandstand had a domed and swept copper roof with cast iron supports and balustrade, a feature of many of the ornamental park buildings of the period.

Although entertainment such as this in the public parks is not so common now, there are plans at present to replace the Ross Bandstand with a modern structure.
